Custom Framing

The frame changes everything.

Bold, custom-painted frames for vintage crewel embroidery. No glass, no matte — just color, texture, and decades of handcraft given the presentation it deserves.

How It Works

Three ways to work with us.

Send Your Piece

You have a vintage crewel or embroidery piece you love — but the frame is wrong. Ship it to us and we’ll strip it from the old frame, clean the fabric, restretch it on new bars, and pair it with a bold, custom-painted frame that makes the embroidery sing.

You ship it. We transform it. You get it back ready to hang.

Commission a Find

You want a vintage crewel piece but don’t have one yet. Tell us what you’re looking for — florals, botanicals, a certain color palette — and we’ll hunt estate sales and thrift stores until we find the right one. Then we frame it for you.

We source it. We frame it. You get a one-of-a-kind piece.

Special Requests

Custom color matching for a specific room, a particular size requirement, a gift for someone who loves vintage art — we’re open to creative projects. Not everything fits neatly into a menu, and that’s fine.

Tell us what you need. We’ll figure it out together.

The Framing

Not your typical frame shop.

No glass. No matte. No mats.

Gloss finish only. The embroidery texture is meant to be seen up close and touched — not hidden behind a pane of glass. This isn't museum archival framing. It's art that lives in your home.

Custom-painted by hand.

Every frame is painted to match the piece. Hot magenta, deep green, burnt orange — whatever makes the embroidery pop. Color is the product. Bold frames, not safe beige.

Standard and custom sizes.

We work with pieces of all sizes, from small 8″×10″ to large panels over 24″×30″. If your piece is an unusual size, we'll make it work.

Faster and more affordable.

Most people don't need museum-grade archival framing — and we're upfront about that. Custom framing starts at $40, and most projects wrap in 1–2 weeks.

Pricing

Starts at $40.

Every piece is different — size, condition, complexity, frame style. That's why we quote each project individually rather than listing a menu of prices.

Send us a photo of your piece and we'll give you an honest quote. No surprises, no hidden fees.

Shipping

US only. You ship, we ship back.

Here's how it works: you pack your piece and ship it to us (we'll share our address after you get in touch). We do the work. Then we carefully pack and ship it back to you.

Customer covers shipping both ways. We'll help with packing tips to make sure your piece arrives safely.

US shipping only at this time.

FAQ

Common questions.

Why no glass?

The whole point of crewel embroidery is the texture — the raised stitches, the yarn, the depth. Glass hides that. Our frames use a gloss finish only, so you can see every detail up close and actually feel the handwork. No glass. No glare. Just art.

How long does it take?

Most pieces take 1–2 weeks from the time we receive them. Sourcing commissions depend on what we're hunting for — sometimes we find the perfect piece in a weekend, sometimes it takes a few weeks. We'll keep you posted.

Can I pick my frame color?

Absolutely. We'll work with you to choose the right color — or you can trust us to match it. Most customers start with an idea and we refine it together. That's part of the fun.

What if my piece is damaged or stained?

We clean and restretch every piece we work with. Light staining and age marks usually come out or become part of the character. If a piece has significant damage, we'll let you know upfront what's realistic before we start.

Do you do needlework repair or re-stitching?

No. We don't do stitching, mending, or needlework restoration. Our work is all about the frame — stripping, cleaning, restretching, and pairing with a custom-painted frame. The original handwork stays as-is.

What sizes do you work with?

We work with everything from small 8″×10″ pieces to large panels over 24″×30″. Custom sizing is available. Pricing varies by size, so reach out for a quote.
